Couples Therapy for Infidelity & Affair Recovery
Rebuilding Trust, Reconnection, and Hope
Healing After Infidelity — Finding a Way Forward, Together
When the truth comes out, the world often stops moving for a while.
You might be asking yourself: “Can we ever come back from this?”
At Practicing Wholeness, we know that infidelity and betrayal shatter more than trust — they shake the foundation of safety, identity, and love itself. But we also know that healing is possible when both partners are willing to slow down, be honest, and reach for repair with support.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
Understanding Infidelity — What’s Really Going On Beneath the Surface
Affairs rarely happen because of a lack of love. They happen when disconnection, loneliness, or unmet needs grow quietly between two people.
Our work is not about blame — it’s about understanding the emotional systems that led to this rupture and helping you both make sense of the pain.
In therapy, we help you:
Understand why the affair happened without excusing it
Explore both partners’ emotional experiences
Create safety for honesty and accountability
Begin the slow, real process of rebuilding trust
We work from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) framework — an evidence-based, attachment-oriented approach proven to help couples recover after betrayal.
Healing after infidelity takes time, but it doesn’t have to feel hopeless.
Couples who do this work with intention often find that the process creates a deeper, more authentic bond than before.
Together, we’ll help you:
Rebuild trust through transparent, safe conversations
Reconnect emotionally and physically at a pace that honors both partners
Learn new communication tools that reduce defensiveness and shame
Transform rupture into growth — without rehashing pain endlessly
We move at your pace — gently, honestly, and with care.
What Healing Can Look Like
Finding Clarity After Betrayal: What Couples Often Want to Know
-
Yes — many couples not only survive infidelity, but grow stronger because of the work they do in therapy. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting or pretending it didn’t happen; it means creating space for honesty, accountability, and deeper emotional understanding. With guidance, partners can rebuild a new foundation of trust and closeness that’s more authentic than before.
-
Remorse isn’t just about saying “I’m sorry.” It’s shown through consistent actions — honesty, transparency, patience, and emotional attunement. A remorseful partner takes responsibility without defensiveness, offers reassurance without being asked, and prioritizes your healing over their comfort. Therapy helps both partners identify these patterns and rebuild emotional safety at a pace that feels right.
-
It’s completely normal for your mind to replay the details or seek meaning in what happened. Betrayal impacts the nervous system — your brain is trying to make sense of the threat. In therapy, we work gently with that pain, helping you regulate those intrusive thoughts and find ways to process rather than suppress them. Over time, the intensity softens as safety and trust are restored.
-
Rebuilding trust takes time, transparency, and emotional consistency — not perfection. Trust isn’t a switch that flips back on; it’s something that slowly returns through small moments of honesty, empathy, and repair. Through couples therapy, you’ll learn how to communicate your needs clearly and set boundaries that help trust take root again.
-
Intimacy after betrayal feels fragile — but it’s possible. We start by rebuilding emotional connection before physical closeness. That means learning to talk about what happened safely, validating each other’s pain, and creating new rituals of connection. Over time, many couples find their intimacy becomes deeper and more intentional than before the affair.
Every couple’s journey looks different, but healing often follows three key phases:
1. Stabilization
We create safety and structure so that emotions, triggers, and questions can be held without re-traumatizing either partner.
2. Understanding
We explore the emotional landscape behind the affair — what it meant, what it revealed, and what patterns may have left the relationship vulnerable.
3. Reconnection
When you’re ready, we guide you toward rebuilding trust, redefining intimacy, and writing a new story — one built on honesty, closeness, and shared accountability.

Frequently Asked

We are an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Most insurance plans do not cover couples therapy and require a mental health diagnosis, which can impact the length of sessions and our approach to care.
Our work is holistic and client-centered, focusing on you and your relationship as a whole—not just a diagnosis. We also prioritize confidentiality, which can be affected by insurance involvement.
To help with out-of-network costs, we partner with Mentaya, a service that assists clients in getting reimbursed for therapy. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will handle claim submissions and insurance paperwork on your behalf. We can also provide a receipt (superbill) for you to submit directly to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

We offer both in office sessions and virtual sessions through our secure online platform!

This depends on your unique needs and circumstances, as every client’s journey is different. Some clients find meaningful progress in a few months, while others benefit from ongoing support for a year or more. My goal is never to keep you in therapy longer than necessary, but to meet you where you are, provide transparency, and support you in a way that feels right for you.

Q: Therapy can be expensive—how do I know if it’s worth the investment?
A: Investing in therapy is an investment in yourself, your relationships, and your overall well-being. The benefits extend beyond the therapy room, helping you break unhealthy patterns, improve communication, and build deeper emotional connections. While the cost may feel significant, the long-term value—greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and emotional resilience—often outweighs the expense. Many clients find that the clarity and growth they gain through therapy positively impact multiple areas of their lives, making it one of the most meaningful investments they can make.
